MI hunting
Born and raised in Northern Michigan and here to share stories with friends and lessons learned as a hunter in Michigan. An average Michigander with the love for the outdoors. We will discus hunting, gear, tactics, wild forage, fishing, hiking, camping, fur harvest, and much more.
Where it Started
Growing up as with many, I spent my days in the outdoors. Most time in the woods behind the house backed by hundreds of acres of state land to explore. Even before I can remember I would be out ice fishing in the winter with my family and their friends. I know because of the photo evidence in my puffy snowsuit holding my catch by the line. From there joining my dad on his deer hunting and taking part on tracking when ever a neighbor or friend of the family got a crack at a deer. Spending most of my adolescent years fishing with dreams of becoming a professional bass angler, much of my time was on the water. As the years progressed and life changed, I found myself only partaking in the outdoors during the annual firearm opener and the thanksgiving deer drives. Married and with two daughters and having to complete my tender in the Michigan National guard serving 7 months in Afghanistan. There I reflected on what was important to me and had realized how far I had strayed from my roots. Upon returning I had made it a point to get back to the outdoors with a new appreciation and a desire to be an outdoorsmen yet again. Diving head long I began my journey picking up were I left off in my youth on becoming a better outdoorsmen. This brought me to wanting to share in my journey and document my experiences. What started as a path to find myself has lead to the pursuit of knowledge and the desire to show others the lifestyle of working to live off the land and to be an outdoorsmen in a land that many have lost their way as I had done.
